Healthier Learning for Denver Public Schools in Colorado
Over 100,000 students, teachers and staff count on Denver Public Schools (DPS) to provide a safe and healthy learning environment. With endless need, finite resources and mounting community pressure to act, DPS turned to McKinstry to help stretch their capital dollars to do more than they thought possible.
McKinstry partnered on an energy savings performance contract (ESPC) that delivered guaranteed energy efficiency and operational cost savings, upgraded critical systems and added 5MW of solar across 27 schools, totaling more than 3.8 million square feet.
More Than Just a Project
Over the years, the Colorado McKinstry team has volunteered thousands of hours in support of DPS CareerConnect. The team has led a STEM Mentor program since 2013 focused on exposing underserved and underrepresented high school students to careers in renewable energy, energy efficiency, engineering and construction.
