Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Casino and Event Center in Auburn, Washington

Casino Renovation

The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Casino renovation included a rework of the power distribution, lighting, lighting control and many of the low voltage systems. The value engineering process continued throughout the project as we strived to find the best possible solutions for the project and the client. The renovation included multiple new restaurants, bars and nightclub areas.

The casino features a prominent dragon light fixture as the centerpiece of the new, high-limit room, which was purchased and relocated from the Lucky Dragon in Las Vegas. The dragon spans nearly 15 feet nose to tail and features nearly 300 hand-blown glass spheres and 800 customized glass scales. The dragon fixture required an immense support system, and McKinstry designed and installed all supports prior to the fixture installation and elongated the placement of the fixture due to ceiling height restrictions. New lights were installed to highlight the dragon and its associated spheres.

Events Center

The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Events center is first class entertainment facility with state-of-the-art event and performance systems. It houses a new banquet kitchen and serving areas, receiving docks and green rooms for incoming performers and talent.

The 89,000 square-foot design-build event center project utilized selective demolition, during which we had to be hyperaware of potential interruptions of revenue generating operations, successfully resulting in no downtime. The redundancy of the facility was improved by the addition of a 1.5MW generator.

The Events Center required a lighting control system whose complexity presented an opportunity for our team to shine. Massive lighting fixtures anchor the lobby and integrated LED light fixtures were used throughout. Power was routed both under the floor and above the ceiling, and the site power and utilities were underground.

We were able to complete massive renovations while maintaining the operations of the casino and dealing with a global pandemic. Adhering to the appropriate distancing and finding ways to execute two-worker tasks with one worker were cornerstone issues we had to overcome to be successful.
