Willamette Valley Cornerstone, Springfield, Spearheads City-Wide Lighting Efficiency Project
The City of Springfield selects McKinstry as lighting efficiency partner.
SPRINGFIELD, OR. (Oct. 20, 2022) – Continuing its energy-efficiency journey, the City of Springfield, Oregon has partnered with McKinstry to begin the replacement of the city’s existing high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting fixtures with higher-performing light-emitting diode (LED) structures. Thanks to funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, the City of Springfield is working quickly to replace 3,124 streetlights across the city and the first step in the process, auditing, is well underway.
The City of Springfield selected McKinstry to perform city-wide lighting audits to deliver numerical and construction data. The data informs the design and replacement process scheduled to begin in the first half of 2023. The lighting upgrades will provide up to 70% more energy conservation and increase longevity by up to 30,000 hours.
“The City of Springfield has been focused on more sustainable, efficient practices to improve services and lessen impacts to the environment,” said Mayor Sean VanGordon. “This project is a perfect example of addressing our community’s needs in a way that brings the costs down, while supporting our goal of enhancing livability and environmental quality within our community.”
McKinstry is honored to partner with the City of Springfield and celebrates its ongoing commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
