Fostering STEM Mentorship in Colorado

McKinstry has spent thousands of hours over seven years working with three high schools to deliver an annual STEM mentor program in Denver. The program helps underserved high school students learn about renewable energy, energy efficiency, engineering and construction.

Efforts included renovating an existing greenhouse, building model wind turbines to test design theories and learn principles of renewable energy and designing and engineering a small PV system to achieve net-zero electrical status.
