Building Good in Our Communities

In 2023, McKinstry team members completed 116 community service projects, contributing 3,726 hours nationwide. The following is a sampling of our community projects nationwide.

Supporting Veterans in Seattle

The VA Puget Sound Health Care System plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of the veteran community. The challenges brought by COVID-19 drastically reduced the volunteer presence at the VA and stalled ‘non-essential’ projects, creating a daunting revival process after the abrupt halt in 2020. The McKinstry Veterans Alliance is the first volunteer crew to return to the VA. This year, McKinstry veterans and Building Good team members helped revitalize and maintain the VA grounds, creating a more welcoming space for the veterans and their families.

“While participating at the VA Puget Sound volunteer events, it has been a privilege to contribute to such a vital cause by helping renew outdoor patient spaces such as the Blue Star Memorial, the Fisher House grounds and various healing gardens around the hospital. Witnessing the direct impact on individuals at the facility and being part of their journey has been truly fulfilling.” —John Livingston, Functional Training Program Manager & Veterans Alliance Co-Chair

Addressing Housing Insecurity in Virginia

Located in Richmond, Virginia, Housing Families First (HFF) works to address and solve family homelessness. Our team volunteered to assist with a variety of needs at HFF’s main facility and administrative offices.

“To know that there are families that yearn for a safe place to call home, or simply to be able to close a door and be together as a family was one of the many reasons we passionately worked hard to fulfill the needs of HFF that day. To be able to give on behalf of McKinstry is a privilege and I am proud to work for a company whose values and culture is alive and allows not only our planet but others to thrive.” —Tracey Gallentine, Senior Account Executive,Technical Services

Serving Youth in Arkansas

Across the United States, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides underserved children and families with a brighter holiday season. As it does every year, the McKinstry South team in Little Rock, Arkansas committed to sponsor two children affiliated with the Salvation Army of Central Arkansas fulfilling every need on the children’s wish lists and more.

“All of us [in the Little Rock office] are from Arkansas, so we feel it is vital that we support underserved children in our community with a direct and local impact. The staff were overjoyed to receive these wonderful gifts. We came together as a team in this contribution, and I am very proud of what we accomplish each year [with the Angel Tree program].” —Jay Holstead, Account Executive
